If you'd rather run on your own licensed market data, you can add a free personal key from Twelve Data (US) or a paid one from EODHD (which covers European exchanges) in Settings. Entirely optional: the app is complete without one, and prices are configured for you by default.

Tools like Portfolio Performance are good, and they are genuinely free, but what they track is a portfolio. Manticore holds your whole financial position: income and recurring expenses, budgets, bank and savings, bonds, debts, a health score and a retirement plan, with the portfolio as one part of it.

If all you want is investment performance, use the free tool. It does that well. If you'd rather have every number in one place, and talking to the others, that's the gap this fills.

Adding your own data key is an upgrade, not a requirement. It moves you onto your own licensed feed. With an EODHD key it powers the charts, backtest, crash replay and the Fear & Greed index too, not just the live quotes.

Standalone: yes, on any number of your own computers. Pro: on one computer at a time, and you can move it to another computer yourself whenever you switch (up to three moves in 30 days).

To keep two Standalone computers in step, point the app at a folder you already sync, such as a Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive folder, or a shared drive. That service moves the file; there's no server of ours involved. Only the encrypted copy is written to that folder, so your holdings are never readable there, and it needs a passphrase set. If two machines are edited at once the newest change wins and the older one is kept as a backup, so nothing is quietly lost.

Install Manticore Finance on the new computer and enter your key. A Standalone key isn't tied to one PC: paste the same key from your purchase email. With Pro, enter your Pro key and choose "Move Pro to this computer"; the old computer switches to read-only.

To bring your data across, use Export backup on the old computer, copy that file over, and use Import backup on the new one. The backup file isn't encrypted, so keep it somewhere safe and delete spare copies once you're done. If you use sync, just point the new computer at the same folder and enter your passphrase. Reinstalling on the same PC keeps your data and licence where they are.

Standalone is a one-time licence (€79 excl. VAT) for the app as it is: no new features, but security and critical fixes for at least two years, and it never contacts our servers. Use it on any number of your own computers.

Pro is a subscription (€9.99 a month or €99.99 a year, excl. VAT) that gets every new feature and update as it ships. It works on one computer at a time, which you can move yourself. Your financial data stays on your computer in both.

Once a day, in the background, Pro checks that your subscription is active. It sends your Pro key, a random installation ID that the app creates (not derived from your hardware or your name) and the app version. Nothing else: never your holdings, balances, files or anything about your computer.

That check is the only thing the app ever sends us on its own, and Settings → Licence shows exactly what was sent and when. Standalone makes no such check at all. The full details are in the privacy policy, section 5.

If you cancel, Pro keeps working until the end of the period you paid for. If a payment fails, you get seven days to fix it. After that the app becomes read-only: it still opens, and you can view and export everything (backups, CSV, PDF), but you can't make changes until you subscribe again.

Nothing is ever deleted. Your data was only ever on your own computer, and it stays there.

Nothing about the licence you bought: your key keeps working, and you keep the update terms you bought it with. On top of that you get six months of Pro free, with no card needed and nothing charged when it ends. Look for the email with your Pro key.

Windows 10 and 11, and Linux (64-bit): a .deb package for Debian, Ubuntu, Mint and similar, and an AppImage for most other distributions. A macOS version is built and going through Apple's signing, so it is not available yet: if you're on a Mac, better you know that before paying than after.

Email within 14 days of buying Standalone, or of your first Pro payment, and you get a full refund, no questions asked and no form to fill in. That is the same window EU law gives you on any online purchase. You can also cancel Pro at any time, as easily as you subscribed. You lose nothing by trying it: your data was only ever on your own machine anyway.
